This course is part of the Coffee Skills Program and is the most comprehensive one-day course available in the industry. No prior knowledge of coffee is required. Upon completion of an exam, students will receive a certificate of recognition from the Specialty Coffee Association.

Who is it for?

Anyone interested in coffee. Essential for those already working in the restaurant and hospitality industries and ideal for coffee lovers who want a more in-depth understanding of coffee history, culture, processing and trends. This module provides an overview of the coffee value chain.

What does it cover?

 History of coffee, its journey to global distribution of the product

 The plant: species and varieties, production, market

 Harvesting and processing techniques

 What is specialty coffee

 Roasting, blending and packaging: from differences in roasting color to different types of blends

What will I need?

Just your computer. There are no hands-on elements required in this online course so no specialized equipment or coffee is needed. Enthusiastic students can get their own coffee varieties (we can arrange an essential kit) to further enjoy different coffees and apply what has been learned from this introductory coffee course. However, we strongly recommend that you consider taking a hands-on course with us where you will learn how to taste coffee, practice different extraction methods and much more.
